THE HISTORY WE FORGET
The history that we forget is a story based on a well-known quote by the Czech intellectual and politician Václav Havel. Based on it, Czech author Pavel Šmíd has created a puppet show that is part of his country's great tradition: wooden puppets, to which he adds another essential ingredient of the Czech identity: its sense of humour. Šmíd has imagined a kingdom ruled by lies and hatred, embodied in a two-headed dragon and a king. To combat them, two characters (Veronica and Philip) show how good triumphs over evil, happiness triumphs over misfortune and wisdom triumphs over ignorance. Pavel Šmíd (accompanied by Veronika Šmídová as assistant and translator) controls the puppets, narrates and sings this story that makes people laugh and think.
